武田信玄は甲斐（現在の山梨県）に本拠を構えていた武将です。戦国時代において最強と呼ばれた「無敵の武田騎馬隊」をもち、若い頃に暴力をふるう父を国外追放にし、自国の領主をまとめあげ、周辺に睨みを利かせていたといわれています。天下を手中にするにふさわしい人物でもあり、織田信長が最も恐れていた男でもあります。家臣も優秀な者が多く、なかでも武田信玄の側近のエリート武将は「武田二十四将」として一枚岩の結束で結ばれていました。彼は生涯城を持つことはなく、人材をもっとも重用しました。そんな彼の言葉が「人は堀、人は石垣、人は城」。「風林火山」に示される攻撃法はまさに最強の騎馬隊があればこそのものでした。

Takeda Shingen was a warlord of Kai Province (Yamanashi Prefecture.) He had “ the Undefeatable Takeda cavalry” which was called “the best” in the Sengoku period. When Shingen was young he banished his father who was violent from his territory, and he also took control of the clan and had great influence on others. He was called the proper man to take control the whole country, and he was the man who Oda Nobunaga was afraid of the most. He had many capable retainers, especially “Twenty-Four Generals of Takeda Shingen” were the elite warlords worked as an aide to Shingen and closely united. He never had his own castle, but valued manpower. There is his word, “The people are your moat, your stone walls, and your castle.” The way to attack indicated in “Fūrinkazan” was succeeded, that was because of having the most powerful cavalry.
